CrabMan
We created this stop motion puppets as a part of a stop motion workshop. The idea was to make them as if the will be animated later. This are the end results of all of the participants.
Pipeline
Creating a stop-motion puppet was the objective of the workshop. I designed a crab man, and made the inner structure with raftwood, slowly craving it.
After cutting the character in half, I was able to put the joins made of wire in place. This avoids the wire to break while you are animating it.
For other details of the structure, I used surgical tape and plasticine that hardens over time. With plasticine, I covered it all up.
Finally, I added details with acrylics and covered it all with light glue, so it had a shiny touch. For the parts I wanted to avoid that, I used mate nail polish.
